BYU Bookstore

I'm in Provo, Utah!! How Fantastic is that?

I decided that while I was in Provo I might as well go visit my friend Don, at the BYU Bookstore. Don has TONS of ducks!! Each duck is different and there are millions of them covering his desk!! He has any duck you can think of. I tried counting them, but gave up on three hundred and fourty-two. The BYU Bookstore was a very fun place to visit.

Wow! That's a lot of ducks!!

Quack Report:

My quack was WONDERFUL!!! The Echo was amazing!! I'm glad my friend Don was able to be there for my best quack ever!!!

Happy Holidays

Wow! Isn't it beautiful?
I missed the Holiday lights this year with all of my traveling so I went to Kensington, Maryland to see the last night of the Festival of Lights at the Washington D.C. LDS temple.

Wow! Those lights are fabulous!!
They had over 500,000 lights decorating the grounds. I was amazed!! That's A LOT of lights!! I also stopped inside to take a look at 16 decorated trees from the surrounding stakes in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia. They were awesome.

The outdoor nativity scene, and the International Crèche Exhibit were fantastic! In the International Crèche Exibit there were dozens of nativity scenes from all over the world. It was especially fun to look at all of those because it was interesting to look at all the different styles from different places in the world. I had a very fun time. I'm going to go again next year.

Quack Report:

My quack was really good. The echo was horrible. I tested it out while looking at all the trees covered in lights. Because there were no walls, the echo was just sad.

National Tree-- Washington, D.C.

While in Gettysburg I took a drive downtown to Washington D.C. to check out the National Christmas tree.

In November 1923 the presidents wife gave local schools permission to put up a Christmas tree near the White House. It got named the "National Christmas Tree" by the organizers. At 5 p.m that Christmas Eve President Calvin Coolidge walked to the Ellipse from the White House and pushed the button that lit up the tree.

After that, there was a National Christmas tree every year.  They almost always used cut trees, but then in 1973 decided to use live trees instead.  In 1978, a tree was planted that grew there and lasted until 2010! But sadly, in February of this year, a terrible wind storm blew that Colorado blue spruce down. I was disappointed I wasn't able to see the blue spruce, but that's okay because the tree was replaced the following month by another live tree that is currently 26 feet, 4 inches, but hopefully will grow to be as big as its predecessor! 26 feet, 4 inches, is still a very large tree!!

Surrounding the National Christmas tree is the Pathway of Peace, where there are smaller trees, one for each US state and territory and each one decorated with ornaments made by residents of that tree's state.

There's also a fire with a Yule log, a large-scale model train, a Christmas manger and Santa's workshop. The Yule log is always a great place to warm up after you've been walking around the city. The National Christmas Tree and the Pathway of Peace is illuminated each evening from dusk until 11 p.m. through January 1st.

World of Coca-Cola

Mmmm! Coke!!!
The other day I got to visit the world of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia!

Atlanta is the birthplace of Coca-Cola. In 1886 John Pemberton developed Coca-Cola, which was a non-alcoholic version of French Wine Coca. First he sold it at Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta on May 8, 1886 for five cents. Can you believe that? FIVE CENTS! I wish I could buy a Coca-cola for five cents. At first, he sold the drink at old fashioned soda fountains, and claimed it cured many diseases. Now we think of Coca-Cola as a soft drink.

Now, 125 years later Coca-Cola is sold all over the world! My friends and I went to the World of Coca-Cola to see how they bottle Coke. It was kind of like watching a giant advertisement and it was cool to see all the bottling equipment and the robotic arms that move the bottles around. It was really fun to go into the tasting room and try all the different Coca-Cola products that are sold all over the world. Some were really amazing and I wondered why they didn't sell them in more country's--like the US. Though some were so bad I was surprised people paid money for them in any country.

Quack Report:

My quack was horrible. I barely got out a squeak. The echo was just depressing.

Seattle, Washington

Vroom! Vroom! Look out Seattle--here we come!
I got to visit Seattle--how amazing is that?!! I thought it was awesome.

Seattle is the largest city in the Northwestern United States, so my friend Reza and I had plenty of room to explore.

Wow! I've always wanted to ride in a taxi.
First Reza and I caught a taxi and drove to the Space Needle. The Space Needle was sooo tall!! I think it might even be taller than the Tyrannosaurus Rex I saw at the Discovery Channel!! The Space Needle was built for the 1962 worlds fair. It's a symbol of Seattle.

Woah, I wonder what it would be like to hang glide off that thing!
Reza and I took an elevator and we went to the top. You could see so much from there! While we were at the top Reza showed me something that looked like a bridge. We found out it was actually a stadium called Centurylink field. Sometimes it even opens and you can go in it!! I thought that was pretty cool. If I ever get to go to Seattle again I want to visit Centurylink field and go inside.

I tested my quack in the taxi.  My quack worked out very well!! The echo was definitely satisfying. Sadly the taxi driver was kind of annoyed with me. I think we almost crashed.

New Years

Happy New Year!!! To all of my friends who read my blog, I wanted to wish you a good holiday.

Pop! Pop!!

Fort Lauderdale

Wow! Beautiful view!!
Have you ever heard of Fort Lauderdale?? It is a very fantastic place.

Fort Lauderdale is in Florida on the Atlantic coast, and it's 23 miles north of Miami. In 2010 the population was 165,521 people. In 2006, Fort Lauderdale had 10.35 million visitors! I'm glad it wasn't that crowded when I went!

When I arrived I decided to go visit one of the many beaches there. The beach was great!!! I played in the water, and built sand castles, and made duck sculptures! I did get a few sun burns, but it was well worth the visit. The sea there was beautiful and blue. I loved wading in the water and feeling the coldness of it run down my neck. I need to visit beaches more often!!

After visiting the beach I visited a gift shop. The shop had a lot of cool things, but the sign I ran into was by far my favorite.

Quack Report:

My quack was really good. The echo was awesome! Not my best, but good.
